Metabolism 101:When you go to build a house, everyone knows one of the first things you need to do is build a solid foundation. The same goes with your metabolism.
While eating a diet rich in Whole Foods is a huge factor in this, there are other steps you could be missing to make sure your body is getting what it needs to run your metabolism optimally. Our bodies are essentially a bunch of chemical reactions happening all at once. For the purpose of this discussion, A+B= C represents our metabolism. What do you think happens if we get rid of B from the equation? Exactly… you’re not going to end up with C! In our bodies, ” B” represents the micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals and enzymes which work as catalysts for all metabolic reactions that take place. Without them, it’s physiologically impossible for our bodies to perform the way they should.
This is the reason I stress the importance of eating whole foods vs processed foods which are void of all micronutrients, fiber and live enzymes. (For those unfamiliar with the term, “whole” is implying it still contains all of its natural nutrients which often get lost in the manufacturing process of foods to make them more stable for extended shelf life) A good rule of thumb is if you see the words ” enriched ” or that they have added vitamins it means its processed and should be eaten in very limited amounts
Secondly, between soil degradation and GMO’s, the food quality today is nowhere near what it used to be. Coupled with lackluster farming regulations, we are left to hope most farmers use ethical practices since they are seldom inspected.
This is the reason I have all my clients supplement with a QUALITY multi vitamin to ensure they are getting all of the essential nutrients required to run their metabolisms properly. In fact, this so important I actually put my clients on a quality multi before any other sports supplements like protein powder etc. Taking sports supplements without the required micronutrients to utilize them is pointless. It’s like building a house with no foundation.
I use personally use @1tsphorm M-Factor Goddess multi Read Here: but regardless of the brand you choose , always make sure you’re taking a good multi that is produced in an FDA inspected lab and not just the brand that was on sale at Walgreens. Not all supplements are created equal.
